I never did choose music; the music chose me.
When I look back at my musical journey, until this very moment, I can undoubtedly say it wasn’t easy, nor a straightforward one, but it was a journey that truly defines a man as a person and as a musician. The great Nietzsche once said, “Without music, life would be a mistake”, and I can say he was right. Now, I can't imagine how my life would look if music had never entered it. Would I be the man I am today, would I be taught to listen the way that to music has taught me to, would I ever learn that dedication and perseverance are among the greatest virtues in life?
There is much more than meets the eye, and there is much more to music than just a game of sounds. It is the embodiment of our deepest thoughts and desires, the connection between who we are and who we imagine ourselves to be, the ray of light that colors our everyday lives.
It seems as if it were only yesterday when I first picked up the guitar as an 11-year old boy, at the turn of the century. I owe so much to that instrument. It has taught me how to love, play, and live music, and it has taught me that the best qualities a musician can have are hard work and patience.
Countless hours of practise spread throughout my teen years have given me a new and exciting experience. As I submerged deeper and deeper into the vast ocean of music, my fascination with it grew more day by day. Suddenly, playing just wasn't enough anymore. I needed a new, more profound way to express myself. So, at about the same time I turned 18 and opened a new chapter in life, I also stepped into the new realm of music: composing.
For many years, I was searching for my true voice that transcends beyond everything that, until that point, I believed was true about myself. I have broken the boundaries of my limiting beliefs and set myself free through my compositions.
When I look at myself now in my small studio and my keyboard in front of me, which has, over time, replaced the guitar as my main instrument, I feel content. I am happy that all of the years of hard work have awarded me with the knowledge and ability to compose music that reflects everything that I stand for as an adult. I am looking forward to releasing new compositions and bringing them to the attention of the listeners from all around the world, as music truly is an international language that accepts no boundaries.
We are all unique in our own way. The way we go through life, and the events that define us differ from person to person. Therefore, each listener will approach my music differently, understand it differently, and give it his or her unique views. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, as there is nothing that could ever be right or wrong in music, for it can never be assessed in any manner that everybody can agree upon. But, if my music gives some memorable moments to the listener, then I can conclude that it has done its part.
